That’s fantastic! I’ve purchased a few homes in my day, and there’s nothing quite like that rush when you find “the one” (or when you decide those plans are for YOU).
A few pointers before you go down that road though…
It’s almost always right. If the house is great, but the price is a little high… walk away. If the price is right, but the house needs a little more “fixin’ up” than you want to do… walk away.
If you walk through the door and it just feels like home, go for it! Your Realtor, who should be me, will see to it that all of the “other stuff” is in order, and if it’s not, I’ll help you make it right.
Where I think many people run into issues is the false sense of knowledge/information/power that comes with having what seems like the entirety of real estate at their fingertips. Online searches are not all that. I’m a Realtor, and I have direct access to the entirety of the Triangle MLS (which I assure you no website provides), and even I can’t truly zero in on an exact match for most of my clients’ wants.
Whether it’s me (preferable), someone you know from high school who is a licensed Realtor in the state of North Carolina, or one of the “big ‘boys'” in the Triangle market, before you buy a home, find a Realtor with whom you’re comfortable and can speak candidly, and ask them to “go steady“. It’ll make your life easier, it’ll make your Realtor’s life more fulfilling, and I promise you’ll get a better deal on a better home!

Enough about me, let’s talk about…me.
